A very common type of plating which has shinny bright appearance, commonly applied in jewelry and electronics. For various applications, nickel plated surface can be available in dull, half-dull, bright, hard, soft, flexible or embrittled. Nickel plating has excellent appearance and good performance in preventing corrosion, but poor performance in salt spray test.


For Decorative Purpose – to prevent surface color change and extend lifetime of the material.
For Industrial Purpose – chrome plating has characteristics such like high temperature resistant, wear-proof, low friction coefficient, but thick plating layer.


The most common plating type mainly prevents rust on steel products. Low cost is one of the major advantages. The thicker plating layer is, the better rust-proof performance will be. Other than zinc plating base, chromate treatment can improve rust-proof performance by 5 to 10 times. Chromate treatment is also decorative which provides variety of colors.


A non-toxic and weldable plating mainly applied in food industry and electronics. A workpiece can be welded easily with good conductivity due to tin’s softness and ductility. In regards to rust-preventive performance, tin is unlike zinc, base material may rust once tin coating layer cracks and base material exposes in the air.


A type of plating usually applies on utensils and decorations. Silver plating has excellent conductivity which is generally applied on medical instruments, chemical industry, aircrafts, and electronics.


A type of plating usually applies on decorations and industrial purposes. Gold plated layer is wear-resistant, corrosion-resistant, low porosity and excellent to be a contact terminal. Gold plating is suitable for electronics, communication devices, PCB contact terminals, and adaptors. No oxidation and very little color change will occur on gold plated surface, but the cost is high, plating cost highly depends on international gold price.


Copper plating can be applied for decoration purposes. The other main function is to improve adhesion performance between base metal and coating metal. Bright nickel plating, gold plating and chrome plating usually need a copper strike to increase adhesion performance. Oxidation can easily occur when copper is a surface coating. A transparent paint can be applied on copper plated surface to prevent surface from oxidation.


Alloy plating consists of at least two kinds of metals. Galvanic action between multiple metals makes plating layer corrosion resistant. Gloss shade of alloy plating is from multiple trace metals, which is different from gloss shade of chromate treatment. Alloy plating is excellent in corrosion resistance due to coating surface has mass heterogeneous metal content. Plating color shade can be adjusted by adjusting proportion of each metal. We are expecting more and more demands for various types of alloy plating however the technology is much more complicated than traditional single metal plating. It is very critical to control extraction of each metal in order to achieve the expected plating requirement. Extraction of the alloy metals can be different under different conditions; therefore alloy plating requires more technique and experience comparing to single metal plating. Zinc-nickel alloy plaiting is high-temperature resistant and corrosion resistant, which is widely applied in automotive industry and aluminum products. Automotive parts are usually in high temperature environment like parts in engine bay. In term of assembling aluminum parts, zinc-nickel alloy plating provides the least contact corrosion and the chemical trace voltage could delay aluminum corrosion. Zinc-nickel alloy is an excellent plating as it is more inert than traditional zinc plating.


Mainly applied for improving welding performance, bearing surfaces, as well as highly tin-alloyed electronic devices.


A mixture of 35% nickel and 65% tin is an excellent corrosion-resistant alloy, especially good for nautical environment. Other applications are known as decorations, corrosion resistant purposes, home appliance, contact points for televisions, refrigeration equipment, drawing equipment, optical devices and industrial drying devices.


It is a great advantage for plating that basic salt and alkaline hydride can dissolve each other. Red bronze is an alloy plating consists of 8 to 15% of tin; golden bronze consists of more than 15% of tin; and white bronze consists of 20% of tin. Bronze plating is a low cost, high hardness, shinny, and corrosion resistant choice mainly for decoration purposes, especially for its golden color.
